The PSPgo (PlayStation Portable Go) has officially been made available and costs 249.99 US and games available like Gran Turismo, Tetris, Madden NFL, God of War and Star Wars Battlefront.“We’ve been saying that 2009 is the year of the PSP platform, and with today’s launch of the PSPgo system along with the flood of PSP digital content now available on PlayStation Network, we’re delivering on that promise,” said Peter Dille, senior vice president, marketing and PlayStation Network, SCEA. “The consumer appetite for digital content continues to grow, and PSPgo is the first dedicated gaming handheld to fully address the demand for an all-digital entertainment device.” The PGPgo will be available in Piano Black and Ceramic White.

The company is emphasizing the fact that those who bought a new PSP Go need to apply the firmware in order to make sure that their systems are fully compatible with all PSP games. Users are advised to get the new firmware as soon as possible. A music-oriented application based on the 12 Tone Analysis technology developed by Sony and allowing all the music tracks coming from Media Go to be analyzed and then put in one of the twelve categories available, from Newly Added to Relax. The idea is to permit users to quickly label their music without the need to check out each track separately. Media Go is also set to get some enhancements with firmware update 6.10. The application is used if you intend to access the PlayStation Store from the PC in order to transfer, purchase, backup or restore PlayStation Portable videogames. The update adds a new look for Media Go and allows for playlists to be created and then exported to the PlayStation Portable. The 6.10 firmware update adds a feature unique to the PSP Go. The new tethering function permits the handheld to actually connect via Bluetooth to another device, such as a mobile phone, in order to access the Internet and get to the PlayStation Store.
