As per the latest report by Flurry, a software company that makes application tracking software, Google has just managed to sell 20000 Nexus One phones, a far cry from the sales registered by other smartphones in the market.

The Motorola Droid, launched November last year had sold 250,000 units and T-Mobile My Touch, released in August, recorded 60,000 units sold in the first week.

Further, iPhone 3GS launched in June in eight countries had registered staggering 1.6 million as sales.

Google's Nexus One Bursting Sales

have not seen or heard any projections for how many Nexus One handsets Google planned on selling, but I imagine that it expected higher than the reported 20,000. Apple set the bar pretty high, selling 1.6 million iPhone’s in the week following its launch, but the Droid sold more than 12 times the Nexus One, and even the MyTouch 3G pushed out 60,000 in the first week.

Granted, while Verizon invested millions marketing the Droid and generating buzz prior to its launch, Google actually did the exact opposite–trying to work in stealth and keep the existence of the Nexus One and specific details of the device secret. Still, I think Google would be lying if it didn’t admit that 20,000 is a disappointing start.

Network Issues

As soon as users began to receive their Nexus One handsets, complaints of flaky or non-existent 3G connectivity began to mount. There is room for finger-pointing, and it can be debated whether those issues are a function of the handset–which is made by HTC, or the network–which is managed by T-Mobile.

The bottom line, though, is that it is Google’s phone. Google chose to develop a branded Android smartphone, and regardless of whether issues lie with the hardware or the network, the buck ultimately stops at Google.

Marketing aside, part of the reason that the Droid is more successful is the choice of provider. Motorola partnered with Verizon–the largest wireless provider in the United States, while Google chose to hitch its wagon to T-Mobile.

If you want to revolutionize smartphones–or even rebrand them as “superphones”–the obvious choice is to go with the last place wireless provider. Verizon has the largest 3G network. AT&T claims the fastest 3G network. Sprint markets its 3G network as the most dependable. What is T-Mobile’s network claim to fame? Smallest?

Google’s decision to launch its revolution by partnering with T-Mobile shows shockingly poor judgment. Perhaps T-Mobile is easier to push around and more willing to give Google the types of concessions it was seeking?

Behold II

Behold II

A word from Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management for Samsung Mobile, “We’re excited to announce Samsung’s first Android-powered device with T-Mobile in the U.S. […] The Behold II follows the success of the Behold that launched last year taking the device and user experience to the next level with the Android platform, a large 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, next generation TouchWiz user interface and customization capabilities and premium features.” The Behold II has a 5-megapixel camera, 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and like I previously mentioned, the TouchWiz UI. It also includes 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a microSD slot that can expand the phone’s memory to as much as 16GB, as well as Google and Exchange support. Travis Warren, director, product marketing, T-Mobile USA, will take care of the ending, “T-Mobile continues to expand our line-up of Android-powered phones in time for the holiday season with the addition of the Samsung Behold II. […] The premium screen and quality camera coupled with Samsung’s innovative cube menu makes the Behold II a multimedia powerhouse that’s made even stronger by T-Mobile’s high-speed 3G network.”

LGs 2010 Q1

LGs 2010 Q1

The South Korean mobile phone will launch plenty of mobile phone on 2010, the choice of name the upcoming handsets will have, since the Sweet, Cookie2 and Wine2 (and Chocolate) remind us very much of the names Google gave to its Android updates, Cupcake and Donut. The actual successor of LG Wine should be Wine2, and it might come to the market with upgraded camera specs, new design, or better processor, while still maintaining some of the features that made the original Wine popular. The LG Stage might prove to be the follower of LG Arena, so it should also boast a series of high-end specifications, just as the currently available device does.

Motorola Sholes/Tao

Motorola Sholes/Tao

The Motorola company has announced the launch of its first Google Android-powered handset. The carrier of the unit is the Verizon and will come out on December 1, 2009. A letter says that a Motorola XXX handset (Tao fits perfectly here) was said to be on its way to Verizon’s airwaves, with December 1 being the date when availability starts. The specification list of the unnamed handset in the letter fit perfectly what we already reported on Motorola Sholes and, given the suggested Tao name, the letter might have referred to the very same device that Motorola should release on Verizon’s network with Google’s Android operating system on board. This letter was seen on there website androidandme..

IMG0005A htc android G1 unlock & activate...

htc android phone succesfully unlock and activate to google server acount,…using post paid sim…………..

procedures:
Step 1
Purchase the unlock code for your G1 From: gsmfather.com
Step 2
Put your carrier’s sim in the phone. I’m using an globe sim.
Step 3
Turn on your phone. It will ask you for the unlock code. Simply type in the unlock code you got in step one using the keypad.
Step 4
The phone will tell you to touch the Andriod after which you need to setp up a new gmail account or sign in with an existing gmail account. This is the activation process and it will of course fail since we aren’t using a tmobile sim in our G1. Move on to step 5
Step 5
After my activation failed I pressed try again which took me back to the screen where I needed to enter in my gmail account and password. This time instead of providing the information press the Menu button on the phone. A nice little pop up will appear for APN Settings. Select it.
Step 6
Now you have a list of carrier APNs showing and they are all T-mobile. Select one and you will see all the Settings for that APN. From here you can either press menu to add a new APN or edit the settings for the existing one you are viewing. I chose to add new APN setting for my globe sim…….
Here is the trick. You need to enter in your carriers APN Settings when you create a new APN or edit an existing one. I am using globe so my settings are as follows:
Name: globe
APN: internet.globe.com.ph
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:
Password:
Server: leave blank
MMSC:
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MCC:515
MNC:02
APN Type: leave blank
Step 7
You have now entered in your carrier APN settings so hit the Menu button and select Save.
Step 8
Press the back button on your phone until you get back to the sign in or create gmail account. Follow the steps. This time assuming you have entered in the correct APN settings for your carrier instead of the “There is a problem communicating with the Google servers” error you will get a nice signed in screen.
Congrats! Your Andriod phone is now unlocked and activated running on the network of your choice. You should be able to use all the phone’s features and be totally good to go!

Gmail Labs Introduces 039 Hide Read Labels 039 2 Gmail Labs Introduces Hide Read Labels

Gmail has just unveiled a new interesting feature in its Gmail Labs program called “Hide read labels,” which is just a small tweak but can prove very useful in some circumstances as it allows users to hide the left sidebar labels for the emails that they have read already. This makes for a less cluttered interface but also allows users to more easily keep track of their unread messages.
“A lot of people want to see their labels in order to see which ones have unread messages, but they don’t want a long list of label names cluttering up the left hand side of their inboxes. To help out with this, we’ve made a Gmail Labs feature called ‘Hide read labels’,” David de Kloet, software engineer at Google, wrote. “This is particularly handy if you use your inbox as a to-do list where unread messages are the outstanding things you need to take care of. If you use that method along with labels like “Home” and “Project X,” it’s easy to see all your to-dos in context.”

Google Threatens to Show Screenshot of Apple s Rejection of Voice App 2 300x300 Google Threatens Apple

According to the article I have read Google threatens to show screenshot of Apples Rejection of Voice APP….As Google, Apple and AT&T submitted their answers to the FCC inquiry regarding the rejection of the former’s Voice application for iPhone, it was soon revealed that someone was lying through their teeth. While AT&T quickly extracted itself from the fiasco claiming it had little (or nothing) to do with Apple’s rejection of the app, Google and Apple remained under investigation based on the following contradicting claims: Apple: “Contrary to published reports, Apple has not rejected the Google Voice application, and continues to study it.” Google: “Apple representatives informed Google that the Google Voice application was rejected because Apple believed the application duplicated the core dialer functionality of the iPhone.”
